"Are there people out there who don't die?"

"All bets are off. My apologies sir."

Higa (火瓦 Higa?): An Ittō-ryū fighter fascinated by Manji's immortality.

About[edit | edit source]

Plot[edit | edit source]

When Manji first passes by Higa, Uruma, and Hanada, Higa is the first one to notice that Manji is after their Tegata(pass). For the most part Higa sits back, and watches as Uruma, and Hanada take on Manji, but when questioned as to why he allowed the rule of one on one combat in the Itto-ryu to be broken he responded that he was willing to let it slide in order to learn of Manji's immortality. As Manji fights Uruma, and Hanada in the woods Higa waits for Manji to return. Once Manji crawls back out from the woods Higa throws his Tegata down so that Manji can fight him without holding back. Higa defeats a battered Manji, but at the cost of an arm. While Higa is telling Manji what he would do in order to steal his immortality such as eat his brains, and intestines, Hyakurin hits Higa in the back with an arrow. Higa is then challenged by Hyakurin to kill her before the poison from her arrows puts him out. As Higa is approaching Hyakurin, Shinriji comes out, and slices Higa's last remaining arm off. Even then Higa still attempts to bite out Hyakurin's throat until Shinriji finally decapitates him. In the end the Tegata is left covered in blood, and therefor useless.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Higa appears only in Comrades (I-VI), and is never shown in the anime adaptation.

Equipment and Abilities[edit | edit source]

Weapons[edit | edit source]

His weapon is a Southeast Asian blade named Kamujin (Godblade)

Abilities[edit | edit source]

His real strength is for the most part unknown, because when he defeated Manji, he had already taken a beating from Uruma, and Hanada. Higa was still able to fight with a handful of poison arrows from Hyakurin stuck in him as well as having both of his arms lobbed off showing his extreme endurance Higa is also easily the most intelligent of the three, first shown when he noticed from Manji's legwear that he was in a rush, and most likely the man that is after them.
